Facilities Management Goes Green!
Introducing the Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP™) Credential!
Villanova University, in partnership with the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), will offer the IFMA SFP™ Credential Program starting on March 3, 2012. The three focus areas are presented in a convenient, adult-friendly format over a six-week time frame which consists of six all-day Saturday classes. Classes are scheduled on a two-weeks on; one-week off basis. All course materials and meals are included in the tuition cost.
What is the SFP Credential?
IFMA’s SFP credential is unlike any other credential program. Sustainability is broader and more significant than complying with a building rating system; it is a commitment to improving the facility’s impact on the environment and people—not just at one point in time, but continually. This program reflects Villanova’s commitment to sustainability in certifying professionals around the Delaware Valley.

About the Program
The IFMA SFP Credential Program will provide you with the tools to assist you and enhance your sustainability knowledge and earn the SFP credential in one complete program. Courses are led by experienced, certified instructors who are leaders and teachers in the field of sustainability and are committed to this goal.
This comprehensive program combines printed and/or electronic reading materials with interactive online study tools and online SFP final assessments. Study materials include:
- Printed course materials: Three printed/electronic courses teach the SFP topics in an easy-to-understand format.
- Online study tools: Interactive online study tools including quizzes, case studies, e-Flashcards, progress reports and more will help you apply and retain the SFP concepts.
- Final SFP assessments: Successfully complete each course’s final assessment and submit your application to IFMA to be awarded your SFP credential.

The IFMA Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) Credential Program Curriculum
|
The program consists of three focus areas designed to help facilities management professionals integrate sustainability efforts with the organization’s values and strategies, present a business case for a sustainability initiative, evaluate initiatives from a financial point of view and track and report accomplishments.
Focus Area 1: Strategy and Alignment for Sustainable Facility Management - This section summarizes key concepts related to sustainable facility management from the organizational level and illustrates linkages and actions facility managers must take into consideration in order to make the business case for sustainability in their own facilities.
Focus Area 2: Managing Sustainable Facilities - This section looks in depth at the process of aligning a facility’s sustainability plan with an organization’s vision, strategic goals and policies. It takes the same strategies promoted in an SFP’s business case for sustainability within the organization, and provides the details behind the plans to prepare for, lead and implement those changes.
Focus Area 3: Operating Sustainable Facilities – This section looks at ways in which SFP’s can operate their facilities in a more sustainable manner through changes in building equipment and technology as well as changes in operations and maintenance procedures. Focus area 3 is organized around the eight major categories of sustainable facility management—energy, water, materials and resources, workplace management, indoor environmental quality, quality of services, waste and site impact—from inputs, through facility processes, to outputs.

SFP Credential Requirements

| Complete the three online SFP final assessments with a passing score of 75% or higher. Submit your SFP application (with application fee) to IFMA to validate your SFP credential. |

Instructor
Tad Radzinski, P.E., LEED AP
Tad Radzinski, P.E., LEED AP, co-founder and president of Sustainable Solutions Corporation, has over 27 years of diversified experience in green building design, corporate sustainability and sustainable product design and development. He is a recognized leader in the field and teaches and speaks extensively on his industry experience. Tad assisted Villanova in the development of a Master of Science Degree in Sustainable Engineering and developed graduate classes in Principles of sustainable Development and Sustainable Manufacturing. He teaches at Villanova University, as well as other local colleges.
Tad served as the Waste Minimization Program National Expert for the Environmental Protection Agency from 1997-2007. He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University and an M.S. in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from Villanova University. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Pennsylvania and a LEED Accredited Professional.
Course Fee, Registration, Billing/Payments and Cancellation Policy
Fee:
The course is $2500.00 and includes IFMA SFP® Credential Program materials, and final SFP® assessments as well as meals. Please note that a laptop computer is required to complete the assessments in class.

Billing:
Students and authorized users are able to view billing statements and make secured payments electronically. You can also print official invoices for self and employer use. Once you receive your confirmation and VU ID #, you may log onto
V-Bill to view/pay your bill electronically. Bills are updated the 1st, 10th and 20th of every month.
Payment:
Payments are due no later than the first day of class. This requirement applies to all students, including those who register too late to receive a bill. Please TERMS of BILLING on registration page.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be in writing and received by the Office of Continuing Studies before the first class. No refunds are granted once the class begins. |
