President's Report -- March, 2011

Providing Members with Continuous Growth and Development Opportunities

Hello, everyone and Happy Spring!

Looks like we all survived the winter and another year of over budget snow removal costs!  It was great seeing so many of you at our Winter Social in January.  We had a great turnout and fun was had by all.  Thank you again to our Program Committee for a job well done!

Our Economic Forecast program was held on February 24.  This year’s program included a panel of experts each sharing their perspective on what to expect this upcoming year with respect to the housing market and overall economy.  Interest rates are expected to rise while the housing market still struggles.  Unemployment rates are not expected to improve much over the next two-three years (tied to housing market).  On a positive note, our GDP (Gross Domestic Product) has increased.

Also held on February 24 was our first regional board meeting.  Board members from the Greater Philadelphia, Lehigh, Central PA, New Jersey and Delaware chapters met to share best practice ideas and experiences.  Thank you to all who attended!

Coming soon will be a program designed around IFMA and the Greater Philadelphia Chapter’s efforts with regard to the monitoring and research of legislation within the State of Pennsylvania.  Our Chapter has been a leader in these efforts and we are looking forward to sharing with you how our membership will benefit as a result.

Facility Fusion will be held in Boston March 23 – 25.  We hope to see many of you there!

FMP credential program to be held at Villanova University for six weeks starting March 4.  Please check our website's "Calendar of Events" at www.ifmaphilly.org for details of upcoming programs.

We are working on a new website design to enhance our graphics and offer easier maneuverability. We hope to have completed by year end.
